HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Are you a chili master?  Do you have a recipe people would love?  There’s an opportunity to show off your cooking skills.

Teams are needed for the inaugural ‘Mercury Rising Chili Festival’ in Huntsville.  You only need four members to a team.  The fee is $25 per person.  That $100 investment will go to Leadership Huntsville/Madison County, a local non-profit that educates and engages leaders to make our community better.

The event is a CASI-sanctioned chili cook off, or Chili Appreciation Society International.  That’s actually one of the categories, too.

“It’s a chili without fillers, so there are no beans, no pasta, no anything extra added to it,” said Jenny Askins, Program Director of Leadership Huntsville/Madison County.  “It’s kind of a pure chili. It’s about meat and spices and the sauce so it’s kind of a special thing.”

The Mercury Rising Chili Festival is Saturday, September 27 in Big Spring Park. For ticket information or to register a team, click here.
