Body of 17-year-old drowning victim recovered in Gulf Shores

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The body of a Louisiana teen who drowned in the Gulf of Mexico was recovered Tuesday at one of the city’s public beaches, according to our news partners at

“A civilian jet skier came across the body and brought the body in,” Gulf Shores police spokesman Cpl. Josh Coleman said.

Though police have not publicly identified the victim, WKRG  confirmed the identity of the missing swimmer as 17-year-old Chaston Brown of Louisiana.

Police said Brown was in town vacationing with friends and family when he got caught in rough surf around 4 p.m. Sunday.
