Man accused of crimes spanning Marshall County
GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Guntersville Police say a man is facing multiple theft of property charges stemming from crimes that span Marshall County.
“We had an individual going to different tire stores in the county, wherein he would write a check for sets of tires before the bank opened,” Chief Jim Peterson says.
Chief Peterson says ultimately that allowed him to get away with using bad checks.”We had another tire store in this county that was essentially ordering specific types of tires and sizes of tires,” Chief Peterson says,”This gentleman would go out, procure what was asked for, and take them back to the store and sell them to that dealer for a small percentage of what they were actually worth.”
Chief Peterson isn’t naming that store just yet, but he says Gary Stanfield is charged with multiple counts of theft of property. He says store owners across the county are victims of Stanfield’s alleged doings. “We have three victims here in the city of Guntersville. We have a victim each in Boaz and in Albertville,” he says.
Stanfield is being held in the Marshall County Jail. Chief Peterson says there may be more arrests pending in this case.
