WHNT News 19 is Taking Action to help you find lost money. In our ‘Lost and Found’ event July 22, we highlighted Alabama’s Unclaimed Property Program, which returns cash and property to its rightful owners.
And that’s happening in a big way — since Tuesday, claims filed from north Alabama total $320,000! Of that amount, 463 claims are from Madison County, resulting in nearly $182,000 in unclaimed property being returned.
The Unclaimed Property Program is managed by the State Treasurer’s Office. You can call the toll-free number weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The number is 1-888-844-8400.
You can also check the state website MoneyquestAlabama.com anytime to see if your name is listed. State Treasurer Young Boozer suggests you call or check the website once a year.
Be sure to share this post with your friends on social media to help them recover lost cash and property!
