FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – The W.C. Handy Music Festival is back. The 10-day event, honoring Florence native William Christopher Handy, is now in its 33rd year.

Handy, who died in 1958, was a famous composer. He was known as the “Father of the Blues” and the festival that bears his name brings hundreds of live performances to the Shoals.

From July 18-27, bands will play at local parks, stores, restaurants and other businesses. There will also be a fun run and a fashion show, as well as a car and truck show.

There are numerous events scheduled for each day of the festival. For a complete list, click here.
