HARVEST, Ala. (WHNT) -The Red Cross is helping homeowners who lost their home to a fire Thursday night.

The home was on the 100 block of Mystic Pines Court in Harvest.  The homeowners say they were inside when they heard their smoke alarms sound. When searching the home, they found a fire in the garage. They managed to get everyone out of the house, including the pets, before the fire spread further.  By the time firefighters got there, the fire had spread to the attic and broken through the roof of the house.

Firefighters say it took 45 minutes to get the fire under control.  The home is a total loss.  Investigators believe an electrical problem may have started the fire.

Toney, Harvest, Monrovia and Huntsville fire departments all responded to the fire.
