The list was up on Facebook for a while late Wednesday night, and reposted or shared by several others before being taken down. This is the post but we’ve blurred the names on the list. It includes their home addresses. The list was apparently posted by Jasmine Caudle, who we’re told is related to Ryan Caudle, one of three suspects in the robbery and murder last year of Jamie Travers.
We know that a number of people who were identified on the list have contacted the Morgan County District Attorney’s Office to complain but we’re not sure if there’s anything the DA’s office can actually do about it. You see, that witness list was a part of the indictment against Ryan Caudle and that’s public record. Anyone can go online or come down to the courthouse and get a copy of it.
As for the District Attorney’s office, they say they have no comment to make on the matter.
We also attempted to contact Jasmine Caudle but did not reach her.
Travers’ mother was listed among the witnesses. We interviewed Rebecca Travers recently and even before this happened, she told us she lives in fear.
“Every second of every day. I’m sitting here thinking I have to walk out of here by myself and I’m terrified,” Travers said.
Mrs. Travers says like other members of her family she may have to move away from Decatur, at least until the people responsible for her son’s death are brought to justice.
Three men, including Caudle, are currently jailed on capital murder charges stemming from Travers’ death. Their trial dates have yet to be set.
