HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - A fire at a Huntsville apartment complex forced 12 people from their homes.

Fire alarms started going off just after midnight at the Chasewood Village Apartments on Drake Avenue.

Firefighters arrived to find the back side balconies of building 3640 on fire.

Crews were able to put the fire out in about 30 minutes.

However, they called for backup just in case.

We are told the fire started on a wall next to a balcony then spread to the attic.

Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from doing significant damage to the apartments.

All 12 units still had to be evacuated.

No was injured in the fire.

We are told electrical inspectors will have to check the building out and repairs will need to be made before the residents are allowed back home.
