Police suspect alcohol a factor after a driver hits a utility pole

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - An area of Mastin Lake Road is back open after an overnight wreck that took out a utility pole.

First responders arrived at the intersection of Mastin Lake Road and Shay Circle just before 1:00 a.m. after the driver of a small car crashed into the pole.

Police say the driver suffered minor injuries and alcohol was more than likely a factor.

Huntsville utility crews worked through the early morning hours to replace the pole and restore power to the affected homes.

Police reopened the road just after 6:30 a.m.
