Car break-ins leave residents and authorities asking for help

COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - A string of vehicle break-ins in Colbert County has some residents worried about their security.

Wednesday evening seemed like a normal night for Cody James and his family, until the unexpected happened.

“My stepdad was getting off work and getting home at midnight, so in between that time someone had broken into the garage and gotten into two of our vehicles.” said James.

The theft stole James’ sunglass, wallet and pistol

James is just one of nine cases of vehicle break-ins reported to the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office.

Colbert County Sheriff Ronnie May confirms three break-ins happened on County Road 157 and six in the Spring Valley community. The break-ins happened between Wednesday night and Thursday at noon.

“We feel like someone knows someone out there knows who did this. And that they can receive up to a thousand dollar reward for that information through Crimes toppers if they pick up the phone and call,” said Sheriff May.

A call that James hopes happens soon.

“I think I speak for everyone who got hit in our area. We just want these thieves to be caught, “said James.

If you have any information that can help authorities, you are urged to contact the Shoals Crime Stoppers at 256-386-8685
