HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Thursday, July 10th, was a big day for seven special women in Madison County.
The Women’s Economic Development Council of Huntsville announced them as the honorees for a banquet that celebrates their success and contributions to society and other women.
The seven women are: Dorothy Davidon, Dr. Pam Hudson, Ellin Jimmerson, Donna Rush, Eula Battle, Nancy Jones, and Donna Coleman.
They are top achievers in fields such as arts & humanities, business & professional, community & public service, education, technology, and health & human services. And they are willing to share secrets of success to inspire other women.
“Today, too many of us have apologized for talking, apologized for thinking,” said honoree Dorothy Davidson, CEO of Davidson Technologies. “I want that to stop. I want us to have good ideas and get out and present them and be leaders.”
The seven women will be spotlighted at the annual “Women Honoring Women” Gala put together by the Women’s Economic Development Council.
“This is a tremendous honor,” said honoree Dr. Pam Hudson, CEO of Crestwood Medical Center. “The women who have received it in the past have been just incredible role models for our community, and especially for women.”
The gala is an annual fundraising event for the WEDC Foundation.
Foundation members return the money to the community through $1,200 scholarships and priceless mentoring to women trying to succeed.
“It’s that extra help when you have that day when your car is broken down, and the kids are sick and you just want to give up,” said WEDC President Sandy Edwards. “That extra person to lift you and say you can do this… we’ve all been there…let’s go get it.”
Since 1994, the organization has helped nearly 100 women and 400 children, who needed just a little help.
The Women Honoring Women banquet will be September 18th at the Von Braun Center. Click HERE to buy tickets to the Gala.
