About the Fund
Chris and Amy George founded the Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund in memory of their daughter, Melissa, who died shortly after birth in 2005. She and her twin Ann Catherine were born at 26 weeks gestation. Ann Catherine spent 68 days in Huntsville Hospital’s RNICU and is now a thriving, healthy 9-year-old.
To date, the Tennessee Valley has generously given $1.7 million to Melissa’s fund, which has paid for several pieces of lifesaving equipment such as Giraffe warmers, a GE warmer, and Giraffe incubators for the Huntsville Hospital RNICU. This equipment helps doctors and nurses give tiny babies a fighting chance at life.
