MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) - When you think of a patriot, you, like many, may picture men and women on the front lines fighting for our freedom. However, one Madison woman shares more than just a birthday with this great nation.

"I'm a firecracker girl! I mean, I was born to be an American Citizen," said Lisa Williams.

She's a picture of the American dream.

Lisa was born in Saigon, Viet Nam on the 4th of July. When she was three, she
contracted polio, while living in Viet Nam. She came to the United States when she was six through the bravery of an American soldier.

"Without the love and courage of an American soldier, I would not be here today, living the American Dream."

Lisa and her husband, State Representative Phil Williams,  founded 3D Research Corporation in order to provide engineering services to support our brave soldiers.

"We helped our soldiers fight the wars that keep us safe in this great country," she said. "It's just been an amazing adventure."

Lisa has also contributed to TEDx Huntsville, sharing her inspiration to make the most out of life.

"The opportunities are here if you're willing to work hard and you're willing to put yourself out there and give it all you got," Lisa said. "You're going to make it. I truly believe the only way to fail in America is to quit."

She also made the list of the Top 10 Women Entrepreneurs of America, as well as the 2004 Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce's Executive of the Year. The Schafer Corporation acquired 3D Research in 2005.
