Huntsville, Ala. - (WHNT) John Grass is taking over a very talented Jacksonville State football team this Fall, but his eyes are constantly looking toward the future. In order to stay on top of recruiting in Alabama, Grass is making the rounds to evaluate and teach players across the state.
"We've seen over 1,000 people last year in our camps and like I said I think this year we will see that many or more and we got a lot of prospects out of that deal and it made a lot of folks interested in Jacksonville State."
Coming off an 11-4 record this past season, JSU carries several pre-season rankings in the top ten. Expectations like that are helping to drive the recruting train, but Grass knows he and the gamecocks staff must do more to bring talent to Jacksonville.
"It's a local deal and they're there in 30 minutes, and you have a lot of local kids here and kids from Tennessee, it just gets the face of your program out there."
Grass and his staff also held a similar camp in Hoover Tuesday night.
