HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Heart of the Valley YMCA has announced association President/Chief Executive Officer Scott T. Mounts will retire on July 1.
Mounts has worked for the YMCA for 34 years, spending the last 11 in Huntsville. He came on as CEO and President of the Heart of the Valley YMCA in October of 2003.
“When Scott arrived, the Heart of the Valley YMCA was a one-branch association with 214 members, two small Child Development Centers and a resident camp that was rented out to an Atlanta Y,” said Scott Seeley, Chairman of the Heart of the Valley YMCA Board of Directors, the local association’s governing body. “Scott was instrumental in expanding the reach of the Heart of the Valley YMCA in our community as we now serve over 23,000 members with three branches, three Child Development Centers and a rejuvenated Heart of the Valley YMCA-operated camp.”
“We thank him for his service and wish him well in his retirement,” Seeley added.
The search is underway for a new President/CEO. In the meantime, longtime YMCA executive Harold Cook will serve as Interim President/CEO and help the Board of Directors in finding the new permanent leader.
Cook brings 38 years of leadership experience in the YMCA to the association. He previously served as President of the YMCA of Greater Louisville, Ky., and as an executive in the YMCA of Greater New York. He began his career as a branch Executive Director in Detroit, Mich.
