TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WHNT) - The inevitable became reality Friday when one of Alabama's top juniors signed a Major League contract to effectively end his college careers.

Hard-throwing pitcher Spencer Turnbull, who was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the second round with the 63rd pick, will receive a $900,600 signing bonus, according to MLB.com's Jim Callis. He'll begin his career at the Tigers' single-A affiliate in Norwich, Connecticut.
