HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - The inaugural 'Downtown Open' is ready in downtown Huntsville. If you haven't heard about it -- it's pretty cool.
You can play 20 holes of miniature golf on the sidewalks. Bring your own putter and enjoy this unique course designed by local business sponsors. It's free.
"It's the first of its kind and we're excited to launch it," said Amy Jones, the event coordinator.
If you don't have a putter, there will be a limited number available to borrow from Sam & Greg's and Harrison Brothers Hardware.
"They're kind of like works of art," Jones added. The sponsors have done an absolutely great job. Just come out and see them and then grab a putter, play, and have a good time!"
The kickoff event is Friday, June 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a live remote from 97.7 The Zone and PGA Pro Spike McRoy.
On Saturday, June 14, Richland Golf Center will host a Junior Putting Tournament for kids ages 6-16. There are prizes and trophies.
The Downtown Open will be available for play until June 22.
