Five dead, including two police officers, after Las Vegas shooting

LAS VEGAS, NV (CBS) — Two police officers, and three others are dead after a shooting in Las Vegas.

Two of the dead are responsible for the shooting, police say.

They say the couple opened fire in Las Vegas then turned their weapons on themselves.

Police officers comforted each other after a man and woman shot and killed two of their own in a Las Vegas pizza parlor just before noon Sunday.

The officers were eating lunch at the time.

A witness says the couple told him they planned more bloodshed. “They had a backpack, and I saw their gun in their hand, and he just told me to tell the cops that this is a revolution and they had killed two cops inside CiCi’s,” Witness Alvaro Lopez  says.

Police say the couple went into a nearby Walmart where they killed one more person.

Swat officers quickly surrounded the store.

The couple then turned their guns on themselves.

Police have not yet established a motive for the killings.

Las Vegas officials say they’re doubling up officers in patrol cars until investigators can determine if this was an isolated act.

Our Society is alienating so many now where ‘they’ feel ‘they’ have no more power in how to live their lives & prosper…our economy and our Federal politics are causing some to lose ALL HOPE after being promised so much just 7 years ago and now ‘they’ are over reacting thru violence against a ‘system’ they cannot be a part of…

So much for good guys with guns stopping shootings! Is the NRA going to put this in their magazine?

It was a so called “GUN FREE ZONE”…The only folks that obey that law are law abiding citizens!! There was no way for the police officers to react in that type of ambush. The only good news from this tragic incident that the two murders cannot contribute to the gene pool.

Gary, Nevada is far from a gun free zone. Nevada is a “shall issue” state for concealed carry. The county sheriff shall issue a concealed firearms permit to applicants who qualify under state and federal law, who submit an application

Nevada is a traditional open carry state with seemingly complete state preemption of firearms laws. Effective Oct 1, 2007 is legislation that prohibits counties/cities/towns from enacting ordinances more restrictive than state law. The legislature reserves for itself the right to legislate firearms law.

A VERY minuscule percentage of shootings are anything other than an “ambush” by those standards.

I hope that WHNT will not delete my post for commenting on facts being widely reported. The killers draped a tea party flag on the dead police officer’s bodies! Also, the person they killed in the Wal-Mart store was carrying concealed. When he drew his gun to confront the killers — Amanda shot him dead. A good guy with a gun could not stop these bad guys with guns! The NRA is going to have to redesign their talking points after this shooting!
