Retired Huntsville Firefighter Dies in Accident Involving Bulldozer

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A retired Huntsville firefighter died Tuesday evening while working on his property.

Glen E. Helton, 77, died in an accident involving a bulldozer along Jordan Road in Madison County.

Sgt. Brian Chaffin of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said Helton was killed while moving logs, but didn’t have further details.

Helton worked as a firefighter for the City of Huntsville for 34 years. Later on, he became owner of G&J Contractors.

Visitation for Helton is Thursday, June 5 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home in Huntsville. The memorial service, also at Berryhill, will be Friday at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Valhalla Cemetery.

    Prayers go out to his wife , Jean Helton. She took amazing care of him through all of his health problems recently.
