Korean War Veterans Honored

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - The 8th Annual Korean War Veterans luncheon was held at Redstone Arsenal Thursday. Forty veterans and their families were feted at the Summit Club.

A band played and teenage volunteers with the 1st Patriot Support Corp provided historical color - wearing uniforms of the time. The event was sponsored by Hyosung USA, which has a manufacturing facility in Decatur.

This July will mark 61 years since an armistice agreement ended the Korean War. An estimated 5.7 million American troops served in the conflict. According to the Department of Defense, 33, 686 troops were killed in battle.
