MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT)- At its Wednesday meeting, the Marshall County Commission approved more than $100,000 in renovations to the county jail's kitchen.   Sheriff Scott Walls had been requesting the improvements for several months.

The commission approved a bid of $75,000 from a Guntersville based company for the construction work.   The county will also pay $66,000 to a Birmingham based restaurant supply company for new kitchen equipment.

While the renovations are made, jail kitchen staff will work out of the old East Lake Diner on Highway 227 in Guntersville.  It closed last year.   The county will pay $600 per month rent on the building through September.   That's when the renovations are scheduled to be finished.
