HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Preparations for the June 3rd primaries are underway.

Wednesday morning, Madison County officials tested voting machines that will be used next week.  The county actually has new machines, which are leased.

Leaders of the Madison Democratic and Republican parties ran through test ballots, and also filled out a few extras to try them out.

The numbers from the machines will be sent to the courthouse to be added up.

The testing began at 9 a.m. in the basement of the W.T. Grant building, located at 115 South Washington Street.  It is being done according to an amendment to state laws made in 1975.

The general public is invited to attend.
