Hamilton Police Officer Stabbed

HAMILTON, Ala. (WHNT) —  A Hamilton police officer is recovering in a Mississippi hospital after being stabbed multiple times Friday night, according to our news partners at Al.com.

They are reporting Officer Eric Zills underwent surgery Saturday at a Tupelo hospital after being stabbed in the back of his head and upper left arm.

The article reports Zills was watching an intersection about 9 p.m. when Terrance Edwards of Hamilton approached him.

According to the article, the officer got out of his car and Edwards jumped him.

The officer should recover from his injuries.
