HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Utilities customers could expect some unexpected charges on this month’s utility bill.

The utility company is aiming to make up the difference after accidentally undercharging more than 100-thousand customers in April.

From April 3rd- 25th, Huntsville Utilities billed customers 8/10 of a cent per kilowatt hour of power they used. A Spokesman for the company says the error was made when someone entered the TVA fuel surcharge incorrectly. The utilities company lost$1.3 million in April because of the error.

Eighty percent of Huntsville Utilities customers will find an extra charge on their May bill to make up the difference. It could range from $8 to $15.

The charge will show up on customer’s may bill under “miscellaneous.”
