GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Dozens of people from as far as Florida came to Marshall County last year for a free day of dental work. That same dental office is planning for an even bigger crowd crowd tomorrow.
On Friday, May 16, Total Dental Care in Guntersville will close for regular customers for a free dental care day.
“We do free extractions, we do free cleanings, we do fillings, we do everything we can to try and help people out,” said Dr. Chris Harper.
The event is first come, first served for patients ages 19 and older without insurance.
Even though the office is closed, the staff, their families and sometimes even the regular patients pitch in to help do what they can to make the day run smoothly.
“There’s a lot of people out there, economy’s bad, and people aren’t able to find jobs, and they need help, and that’s what we’re here for,” said Dr. Aaron George.
That attitude is what drives the office to put this day of giving back on each year.
“I think it’s great that there’s dentists who go to other countries and do mission trips, but there’s people here in our own backyard who need help, if not more,” Dr. Harper says.
The event starts at 8 a.m. Friday and goes until 4 p.m. Total Dental Care is located at 1724 Gunter Avenue in Guntersville. The phone number is (256) 582-2248.
