Sasha’s Last Wish Fundraiser
MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) — As storms rolled through, lots of people crowded together to enjoy music, inspiration, and community connections in Madison.
And that was part of Sasha’s Last Wish — to raise money for animals. The 9 year old from Athens passed away Sunday morning, losing a battle with cancer of her muscles.
Today, her parents and friends held Sasha’s funeral in Rogersville and then saw to it that “Taking Care of Paws – Sasha’s Way” was a success.
Sasha loved animals and wanted to raise money to pay medical bills for animals that need care due to abuse, neglect, or injury. Her parents insisted the success of tonight’s event at the Station Bar and Grill brought comfort to them.
Since organizers announced the event, they say people have donated more than $10,000 to the cause from all over the country. The funds will be dispersed among several rescue organizations and shelters, as Sasha would have wanted.
Sasha was a student at Piney Chapel Elementary School.
