MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A tobacco store in Madison County sustained major damage in Monday night’s storms.
It was just before 7 p.m. when Mohammed Kloub got the call. His shop, Mo’s Mini Mart, – his livelihood for over a decade – was gone.
He and some friends stayed until late Monday night cleaning out the few items that weren’t destroyed. Most of the items were ruined by the rain or crushed by the cinder block walls.
The tobacco store was flooded by the rain. While the roof remained in tact, two walls were completely blown out.
After 11 years in the Tennessee Valley, Kloub says he always expected something like this could happen. But until now it never did.
“Every time I’d laugh, but this time I said no I’m gonna leave. Usually I stay. This time I left, and it happened to me.”
No one was in the store at the time the storm hit.
