HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Utilities is on standby for the severe weather conditions that are developing and approaching the Huntsville/Madison County area.

“We are always prepared,” insists HU Public Relations Manager Joe Gehrdes, “We’re always watching our system but at times like this we want to make sure we have extra people on hand because we do expect to have some problems.”

HU officials have been communicating with the Madison County EMA and the local National Weather Service office concerning the weather situation. Crews are prepared to respond as quickly as possible if there are outages.

“Never assume we know your power is out,” Gehrdes explains, “We’d much rather our customers pick up the phone and call us.”

With the combination of abundant spring foliage and high winds, outages are expected. If service interruptions occur, dial 256-53-LIGHT (5-4448) to report. Outage areas may be viewed on the HU outage map.
