25,000 People Participate in Scale Back Alabama 2014

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WHNT) – The numbers are in for the 2014 Scale Back Alabama campaign – and more than 25,000 people participated in the 10-week weight loss effort this year.

Plus, the teams that collected the top two prizes are from Madison County!

There were 431 teams where each of the four members lost 10 pounds or more. Those teams were entered in a random drawing for cash prizes.

The Oompa Loompas from Madison County won the grand prize of $1,000 per team member. Congratulations to Amanda Parkinson, Douglas Ott, Kennie Still and James Hunt!

The Southern Boys Buffet Mafia of Huntsville won second place, or $500 per team member.  Congratulations to Dwight Gaught, John Copeland, David Williams IV and Chris Hammond!

The public awareness program is sponsored by the Alabama Hospital Association and the Alabama Department of Public Health, with generous underwriting from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama.

In all, there were 114,511 total pounds lost by 25,352 participants. Congratulations on making these improvements to your health!
