HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Space Campers at the US Space and Rocket Center may come home ready to work for race car drivers after what they saw Thursday.
That’s because two Indycar race car drivers visited to talk about the similarities between astronauts and race car drivers.
They emphasized both wear suits, both travel and very fast speeds, and both depend on a team of engineers, mechanics, and scientists in order for them to be successful.
James Hinchcliffe said, “It’s really all about a huge team behind each of us that makes us able to do what we do.. space walking on the space station or driving a racecar.”
He attended Space Camp in 1996 and says upon returning to the USSRC some 20 years later, he still had a blast playing with all the technological toys.
He visited with Josef Newgarden, another Indycar driver.
