HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – An apartment fire in the 4000 block of Hunters Ridge Drive sent one person to the hospital late Saturday night.
Firefighters say fire and heavy smoke bellowed from the apartment and breezeway when they arrived on the scene. They cut power to the building while they put out the blaze.
The apartment was heavily damaged in the fire. It was on the second story of the building, and all four upstairs apartments had smoke in them.
Huntsville Fire Chief Howard McFarlen commended firefighter’s fast actions that kept the flames from spreading. District Chiefs Talley Fanning and Steve Oliver said “If not for the excellent response and actions of the fire crews on the scene the fire could have caused a lot more damage.”
The cause of that fire is still under investigation.
