MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) -- The Easter bunny was very busy this weekend, but he made time for a special delivery to the Barber family.
Master Sgt. Tom Barber found himself in the middle of a party Saturday night. It was being thrown in his honor.
"You know, I really can't help but think about some of the guys who weren't able to come home and see this," he told WHNT News 19. "Maybe they came home in a box so it's pretty emotional."
A crew gathered to escort Barber from the armory in Hartselle, to his home in the Neel community in Morgan County. His wife and his children showered him with huge smiles and open arms. "They greeted me at the airport, they ran past the TSA security lines just to throw their arms around me," he laughed. "They kindly asked them to go back through the other side of the line."
Barber said he's so thankful to have a supportive community back in the Tennessee Valley. "I can't say thank you enough," he said. "For the love and gratitude you've shown, it's been a very humbling experience, I cried all the way in, so thanks everyone, I appreciate it."
