FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) - It's a hotel fit for royalty. The Shoals Marriott brings in residents from all over, and hotel management is taking notice.
That's why the Shoals Marriott underwent multi-million dollar renovation. It's an improvement that includes fresh coat of paint, new carpets, and a restaurant upgrade.
"The good news is that it's attracting all different types of people from all over the world. We have conventions, we have leisure travel, we have people that are coming here for music, culture and heritage. It's just a lot of different folks that are coming here. It's great," said Georgia Turner, communications manager at the Florence Lauderdale Tourism board.
Turner says the board has seen an eight percent increase in people visiting the area in the last couple of months and the hotel could play a big part in that number.
"The hospitality industry itself combined is the largest employer in the Shoals. It's a tremendous economic driver in the Shoals community. Our success can be stemmed off the people in this area the the quality of services we can be able to provide," said Larry Bowser, manager at the Shoals Marriott.
A success that is setting the standards for the Shoals and putting it on the worldwide map.
