Decatur Waitress Injured After Grabbing Moving Vehicle

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – Why did a Decatur waitress hold onto a vehicle when it was trying to leave the parking lot of Ryan’s restaurant Monday evening? That’s the question police are asking themselves.

Police got a report of a hit and run at 5:45. Witnesses say 27-year-old Auburn Moore of Huntsville was holding onto an SUV when the driver hit the gas and took off.

Moore let go of the SUV and hit the pavement. She was taken to Decatur Morgan Hospital and later flown to Huntsville Hospital.

Moore is in fair condition. Police say she is expected to recover.

I’m one of her coworkers and we don’t know exactly wat happened. All we know is that the driver was parked in our parking lot, she ran up to the car before the driver tried to drive away and she was dragged with the car until she was unable to hold on any longer. We all hope she makes a full recovery.

We were at Ryans when this happened. There were all kinds of things being said, but we just knew a mother of small children had been seriously hurt. No matter what really happened, the point is she was dreadfully hurt and did not deserve that. We prayed for her then and continue to do so. Bravo to the manager for his quick thinking and concern!
