HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – April is typically the worst month for severe weather in the Tennessee Valley. To make sure you’re safe from the storms, check out the “Tornado Warning & Alert” app from the American Red Cross.

The Red Cross “Tornado” app offers everything you need to know to prepare for a tornado in a simple, easy-to-use, package.

The home page features an information guide answering the question “What is a tornado?” as well as advice on what to do before, during and after a tornado outbreak.

There are also handy tips on how to prepare your home before severe weather strikes. You can sign-up for push notifications and alerts through the app or use an interactive map to find the nearest Red Cross shelter.

You can also digitally connect to the Red Cross to donate your time or money.

From your mobile phone, call “**REDCROSS” (**73327677) for a link to download the app to your phone or you can download them free, directly from the iTunes or Google Play app stores.
