April is Organ Donation Month

April is Organ Donation Awareness month! The Alabama Organ Center (AOC) also celebrates April as National Donate Life Month. This month-long celebration honors the generosity of organ, eye and tissue donors and their families as well as commemorating all transplant recipients in the United States.

Currently more than 120,000 men, women and children are awaiting organ transplants to save their lives. Thousands more are in need of tissue and cornea transplants to restore their mobility and sight. Register to be an organ, eye and tissue donor today and provide hope to those who wait.

    Thank you for covering this need of organ donation and what a need there is for donors. My younger son is donating a kidney to his older brother in the next month. We are the blessed and lucky ones.
