HARTSELLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Multiple trees were uprooted and a pavilion was destroyed at Sparkman Park in Hartselle during the storm that rolled through early Friday morning.

WHNT News 19’s crew on the scene says 20 or more trees were uprooted from the wind. A pavillion was crushed by one of those trees.

Hartselle Parks & Recreation employees were on the scene, assisting insurance agents with photographing the damage and directing crews to remove the fallen trees.

Several trees fell over on the walking path that circles the park.

Parks & Recreation employees told us the pavilion that was destroyed replaced a pavilion that was destroyed in the same area four years ago.

All of the storm damage was located around the pavilion. The park is currently open to visitors.
