Tornado Hits St. Louis Suburb; Residents Evacuated Due to Gas Main Break

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – A tornado touched down in a St. Louis suburb on Thursday morning, the National Weather Service said.

The storm hit the University City area around 5 a.m., tearing shingles off roofs, downing trees and causing power outages.

Residents in the area had to be evacuated because of a gas main break.  It occured when a large tree fell on a home.
