HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Here at WHNT News 19, we love to support our local sports teams.  Have you heard what Ryan Cody is doing to support the Huntsville Havoc?

Ryan, our sports director, is growing a beard.  It’s traditional for hockey players to grow a big, burly beard for the playoffs – so they can have it ready for the nice, sweaty championship picture at the end.

Ryan thought he’d give it a try.  He hasn’t shaved since March 5, 2014.  The playoffs last through mid-April.  Ryan’s trimming it a bit, though, so it’s not as burly as the guys’ beards.

It’s fun to watch the beard grow nonetheless! Check out the pictures above.
