Memorial Service Planned for Gadsden Plane Crash Victims
GADSDEN, Ala. (Al.com) – A memorial service is planned to honor a woman, her two sons and her nephew who died last week after a plane they were in crashed in Colorado.
According to our news partners at AL.com, that service is planned for Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Crosspoint Community Church in Gadsden. Visitation will begin at 4:30 p.m., and a private burial service will be held before the memorial service.
Katrina, Kobe and Xander Barksdale and Seth McDuffie were four of the five passengers in the small plane that crashed in a Colorado reservoir. They will all be remembered at the Tuesday service.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in their honor at Alabama Teachers Credit Union to benefit needy children at Mitchell Elementary School.
Funeral arrangements for the pilot, Gadsden businessman Jimmy Hill, have not yet been announced. AL.com reports, the National Transportation Safety Board must perform an autopsy on Hill before his remains will be transported back home.
NTSB and the Federal Aviation Administration have launched an investigation.
