JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Emergency crews say someone driving a car hit a man crossing Highway 72 in Jackson County, about a mile east of Gurley. It happened just after 12 a.m. Tuesday.
A medical helicopter rushed the pedestrian to Huntsville Hospital after the collision. State Troopers identify him as Thomas Flippo, 28, of Gurley.
As of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Flippo was listed in critical condition.
Emergency crews closed down Highway 72 for roughly 20 minutes for the helicopter to land. After the helicopter cleared the area, officers continued to keep one eastbound lane closed for their investigation.
