FDA: Tainted, Recalled Beef Reached 35 States
(CNN) — Tainted beef recalled earlier this year from a California meat producer reached 35 states and Guam — not just six states as previously believed — the U.S. Department of Agriculture said.
Thousands of retailers have been added to a list of companies that received beef products from the company, Rancho Feeding Corp., the USDA said.
The recall began in January with about 40,000 pounds and was expanded in February to 8.7 million pounds. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said the meat was recalled because it came from “diseased and unsound” animals that weren’t properly inspected.
