ATHENS, Ala. (WHNT) - Athens celebrated Mardi Gras on Tuesday with a parade.

Athens State University presents the parade, and art professor Gail Bergeron and students were in charge of the colorful event.

This year's theme was 'Steampunk Circus.'

As part of a class requirement, each student had to make an oversized head made of paper mache and wire to wear in the parade.  They came up with some neat creations!
