Guntersville, Ala. (WHNT) Springville Alabama native Randy Howell had the best day of his fishing life Sunday, and it just so happened to fall on the final day of the Bassmaster Classic. Howell overcame a nine pound deficit to overtake the lead and win by a full pound over Oklahoma angler Edwin Evers.

"That's the largest bag I've ever caught in my professional career and to have it happen on my dream day of the Bassmaster Classic was just phenomenal," Howell said in his post win press conference. Howell took a risk by choosing to fish on Spring Creek Sunday, which really paid off. The Alabama native caught a six pound beast in those waters and rode the wave to a world championship.
