(WHNT) - A number of you asked us about a very large plane flying over the Athens/Limestone County area on Wednesday afternoon.

Viewers said it was much bigger than the planes that normally fly in to Huntsville International Airport.  You were curious about it, and asked us to find out more.

We suspected it might be a military plane, so we checked with Dan O'Boyle at the Redstone Arsenal Public Affairs Office.  O'Boyle confirmed a C-5 Galaxy came in and out on Wednesday.  It's the military's largest transport vehicle.

Redstone Army Airfield's Flight Operations team said the plane was inbound at 11:30 a.m. and departed at 3:55 p.m.

The C-5 comes here often, as does the C-17, another large military transport plane.

Thanks to those of you who asked about this, and Dan, thank you for helping with the answer!
