(CNN) — More than 187,000 customers have lost power in the Southeast, stretching from Louisiana to North Carolina, several power companies told CNN.
The highest number of outages continues to be in the Atlanta area, with Georgia Power reporting more than 114,000 affected customers.
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal said the winter storm is moving slightly south and east of the Atlanta metro area.
He said Georgians have heeded the bad-weather warnings and stayed off the roadways. “That’s a good starting point,” he said Wednesday.
