CULLMAN, Ala. (The Cullman Times) – Most of the residents in the city of Cullman and across Cullman County have power again after spending hours in the dark.

A transformer failed at the Cullman Primary Substation causing a massive power outage around 1:00pm Saturday afternoon. Power wasn’t restored until around 7:00pm Saturday night.

Power failures have been reported across large portions of the city as well Berlin and Holly Pond.

The general manager of the Cullman Power Board tell the Cullman Times they are working on repairing the transformer now, and they don;t know yet what caused it to fail in the first place.

The Power Board estimates the complete repair to take 10-12 hours. Though many residents saw power restored earlier.
