FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – Florence High School wasted no time in hiring a new head football coach for its program.  Jason Wallace, the team’s defensive coordinator, was promoted on Thursday.

The Florence Board of Education met at Florence High School, in the auditorium, to approve Wallace’s hire unanimously.  The announcement was then made to the football team, who was in attendance.

Wallace has served as Florence’s defensive coordinator for the last two years.  This is his first head coaching position.

Florence Superintendent Janet Womack said Wallace signed a two-year contract. His annual salary will be $100,000, which includes his teaching salary and coaching supplement.
