Kristina Kandis Huber, 23, has been in custody on other charges since the shooting.  Melissa Ann Huber, 45, died in the incident on NE Hill Road in Somerville.

Kristina Huber is being held in the Morgan County Jail on $250,000 bond.

Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin says the shooting apparently stemmed from the fact her parents had told her they planned to force her into a drug rehab program.

Kristina Huber’s father, James, led authorities on a high speed chase last month.  The chase led to a standoff with Huber hiding out under the Highway 31 river bridge in Decatur.  Deputies say James Huber fired shots at them throughout the chase.

He has been charged with attempted murder as a result.

James Huber and his wife did lots of tree-cutting work for us over several years; their daughter’s situation grew more and more delusional; they had little help and tried over and over to get her into rehab and mental health counseling. Good people, hard and honest workers. James and Melissa were pushed to, and beyond, the limit of endurance. May God give James peace and may Melissa rest in peace.

Killing her mother! I cannot imagine doing something like that! Drugs evidently will cause somebody to do anything. How terrible for what happened to her mother. Now her father is in big trouble. All this from trying to get the daughter in rehab. Drugs are something that people just cannot let go once they start. What a. tragedy for these parents!
