Senior Woman with Dementia is Missing in Jefferson County

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WHNT)- Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding a missing senior woman.

Lula Hazzard Skanes is 66 years old, and was last seen around 3:30 this afternoon at her home near Pinson.

Deputies began searching for Skanes after her daughter reported her missing from a residence in the 1100 block of Oak Creek Trail, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Skanes, a 5’1″ black female weighing 120 pounds, suffers from dementia and has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, according to the Sheriff’s Office. She is believed to have left on foot carrying a large gym bag.

    This is terrible- I hope she has somehow found safe and warm shelter. Maybe someone is helping her who does not know she is a “missing person”. There are still people who do not watch the news. It is so cold. My prayers are with this lady found safe.
